We are lucky to have eight wonderful examples of Marianne’s work at RetroPassion21.

She is a great neighbor and amazing collector of MCM style. Her work has add added a warmth and excitement to our shop and would be a show stopper in your living room with your MCM decor. Please call or respond via pm with inquires.“

About MarianneB van der Haar:
I was born in northern Germany and lived most of my younger years in The Netherlands. During the early 1980’s, I lived four years in Tanzania, East Africa, before returning to The Netherlands once again for a career in interior design. In 1993, I moved to Atlanta, where I started painting in 1995 while taking a sabbatical from interior design. When I picked up the paints, my future just came to me and exploded – my love of bringing layers upon layers of acrylic paint together with mixed other media while working on composing a canvas. My supply cabinet has expanded over the years to include other materials such as ink, sand, copper powder, marble powder, firewood ashes and textiles. Every time I work with my tools of choice - brushes, plastic cards, my fingers, scrapers, pallet knives - to bring the soft creamy acrylic paint onto the canvas, and the result is always a pleasant surprise.”

“I have always had a profound passion for the diversity of people and the stories that form their being. I believe that traveling and living in other countries, and engaging with other nationalities forms connections with others and helps explaining who we are. A degree in interior design in Europe honed my understanding of imagery, color and balance, which are powerful tools to express my cross-culture experiences.”

My paintings are abstract. I find nothing more challenging than an empty canvas, and using my fingers, plastic cards and pallet knife to produce a painting with varying textures in acrylic, charcoal, fiber and oil.“

Maybe because it is Friday,

and I am looking forward to Happy Hour tonight, and we are approaching a Storage, Storage Storage sale this weekend, I just had to do a little photo montage of how often MCM pieces are related to storing and serving your beverage of choice.

The bar is totally cool and the side storage piece can be attached right or left – form and function, right?

The sleek low credenzas are made for Don Draper’s office…

The taller sideboards all have a drop down door to serve from…whether that be a cocktail beverage or Grammy’s pies is up to you.

Happy Friday.

We are open tomorrow for your shopping pleasure from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm! 20 % any item with a drawer….just to make it fun.

Free shipping in Atlanta, and the 20% discount helps get it to you any where in the USA and Canada.

Media Center

The big thing you need to imagine is your flat screen TV hung to the right of the shelves…I see your media and stereo equipment tucked neatly inside the lower cabinets with convenient sliding doors. And a very cool space to show a few special albums…we know you want to show them off.

Love our friends from all around the US.

Met a great couple from Baton Rouge, LA on Friday. Jessa and Jonathan were in Atanta for a wedding…and have been following us on Facebook! We were very grateful they made the trek out to Norcross for a visit, and we are helping them get two amazing pieces shipped to Baton Rouge. This is why I love my job!

RetroPassion21 is proud to note that Atomic Ranch is featuring one of our all time favorite pieces...the bullet desk.

The desk is already on its way to its new home in Virginia! The owner can’t wait to see it featured in the upcoming edition.

Over this past weekend, we sold the 4 ladder back chairs featured in the summer issue.

We highly recommend Atomic Ranch to all of you Mid-Century Modern enthusiasts…great reading and ideas on how to bring your own MCM vibe to fruition.
